The BC Dementia CME Strategy
is a two year initiative that will be working for and with physicians and other health professionals to help achieve optimal care for patients suffering from Dementia. UBC CPD with support from the Ministry of Health, the Guidelines and Protocols Advisory Committee and the ADTI are developing family physician & general practitioner focused education on Dementia

Why Now? Why Dementia?
Over the past three years UBC CPD has conducted several large scale needs assessment. In each of these studies family physicians and general practitioners have consistently rated the topics of Dementia, Geriatrics and Mental Health as three of the areas most in need of additional CME. In addition the landscape in which physicians practice is changing rapidly. Not only are new clinical practice guidelines now available, there is an expanding body of evidence around the treatment of dementia. This coupled with an aging population suggest that physicians will be handling increasing numbers of patients with dementia over the coming years. This program is designed to assist physicians in this process by giving them the tools and the knowledge that they need to optimally manage patients with dementia.
This webpage is intended to serve as a central resource to all educational initiatives relating to Dementia. We have supplemented the educational activities with links to helpful tools and other resources and to documents with more information about caring for patients with dementia.
